Let's look at an evangelistic sermon from Luke 18:9-14 called Trusting The Lord For Salvation.

There are four reasons for trusting Jesus for salvation. They are:

1. Salvation has nothing to do with good works (Luke 18:9-12)
   
   
   1. The Pharisee was devoted to the Word of God (John 5:39)
   2. The Pharisee was devoted to the service of God (Luke 18:11-12)


2. Salvation has nothing to do with bad works (Luke 18:13a)
   
   
   1. The taxcollector fleeced his own people
   2. The taxcollector was a traitor and thief
   3. The taxcollector disregared his religion


3. Salvation has everything to do with the mercy of God (1 Peter 3:18)


4. Salvation has everything to do with our response to God (Luke 18:13b-14)
   
   
   1. What was the Pharisee's response?
   2. What was the taxcollector's response?
